Overview

VanMind Academy is growing, and we are looking for passionate, patient, and experienced Tutors and Teachers in multiple subjects to join our team in North Vancouver.

We are currently hiring instructors for subjects including:

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Coding / Programming
  • Other elementary and high school academic subjects

We are looking for individuals who genuinely enjoy working with children and teenagers, can build positive relationships with students, and are committed to helping them succeed academically.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge in their subject area, previous tutoring or teaching experience, and the ability to create an engaging, supportive, and motivating learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in your area of expertise.
  • Work with elementary, middle school, and/or high school students.
  • Explain concepts clearly and in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner.
  • Develop personalized lesson plans based on each student's goals, abilities, and learning needs.
  • Assist students with homework, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exam preparation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents and VanMind Academy.
  • Create a positive, patient, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Help students improve their confidence, study habits, and academic performance.
  • Maintain professionalism, reliability, and punctuality during all sessions.

Requirements

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one academic subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must enjoy working with children and teenagers.
  • Patient, friendly, energetic, professional, and reliable.
  • Ability to connect with students from different learning backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a related university program is preferred.
  • Criminal Record Check or willingness to obtain one is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BC Teaching Certificate is an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a school, tutoring centre, academy, or similar educational environment.
  • Experience preparing students for school exams and assessments.
  • Ability to teach more than one subject is a strong asset.
  • Experience teaching both one-on-one and small-group classes is an asset.
