Overview

Scaramouche Restaurant is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cook to join our culinary team. We are a long established, Michelin recommended French influenced restaurant in mid-town Toronto. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about cooking to develop their skills. The Junior Cook will assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes while ensuring adherence to recipe, presentation and food safety standards. This role is ideal for recent culinary school grads looking to gain hands-on experience in the food industry and grow within a professional kitchen setting. Suitable candidates will be interested in developing as a cook and learning new skills.

Duties

  • Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients for various dishes
  • Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from senior kitchen staff
  • Ensure all food handling procedures meet safety and sanitation standards
  • Help with meal assembly and plating to ensure presentation quality
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts
  • Support the team during busy service times by efficiently managing multiple tasks
  • Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock levels

Experience

  • Attendance at a culinary school is highly recommended
  • Familiarity with basic food preparation techniques and cooking methods
  • Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices is required
  • Minimum 1 year in a professional kitchen, NOT FAST FOOD CHAINS
