Catering Event Expediter

About the Position

Elwood Catering is seeking an organized, dependable and energetic Catering Event Expediter to support our chefs and service teams at weddings, corporate functions and private events.

The expediter is responsible for coordinating the flow of food from the kitchen to the service team. This person ensures that every plate is complete, correctly prepared, properly presented and delivered to the correct guest or table on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate plated meal service between the kitchen and serving team
• Organize completed plates by table number and entrée selection
• Verify that each plate has the correct protein, sides, sauce and garnish
• Confirm dietary, allergy and vegetarian meals before service
• Communicate clearly with chefs, event leads and servers
• Direct servers on when and where plates should be delivered
• Maintain an accurate count of meals served at each table
• Identify and resolve missing, incorrect or delayed meals quickly
• Keep the plating and service area clean, organized and efficient
• Assist with buffet, cocktail-hour and late-night food service when required
• Help with event setup, breakdown and kitchen organization
• Follow all food-safety and workplace-safety procedures

Qualifications

• Previous catering, banquet, restaurant or event experience is preferred
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused during fast-paced meal service
• Excellent attention to detail
• Confident giving clear instructions to a service team
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
• Available to work evenings, weekends and occasional holidays
• Reliable transportation to event venues is strongly preferred
• Food Handler Certification is considered an asset

You are a strong communicator who can confidently manage the movement of food during a busy service. You notice small details, work well under pressure and understand that every guest must receive the correct meal promptly and professionally.

Compensation

Competitive hourly pay based on experience. Travel compensation often available depending on the event location.
