About the Role

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Building Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of common areas and as required, preparing vacant suites to ensure they are ready to move by the 1st of each month. You will work closely with Maintenance staff, Property Managers, and on-site teams to keep our buildings safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Key Details:

  • Hourly wage: $26.00 per hour
  • 30/h per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Working hours: 09:00 to 03:30

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all common areas including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, laundry rooms, gyms, and site offices
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces
  • Clean light fixtures, air vents, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, landings, and entrances
  • Wipe down laundry equipment and clean dryer vents
  • Collect and remove garbage and recycling; maintain a debris-free environment
  • Wash walls, windows, window coverings, and perform floor care (vacuuming, washing, waxing, or steam cleaning as required)
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, including proper storage and inventory
  • Report on unsafe conditions, damaged fixtures, or faulty equipment to the Property Manager *Supplies & equipment will be provided

Vacant Suite Cleaning (as required)

  • Perform deep cleaning of vacant suites to meet Devon Properties’ move-in standards
  • Thoroughly clean all surfaces including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, baseboards, and windows
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchens, including fixtures, cabinets, and appliances
  • Clean, sanitize, and inspect appliances (fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher)
  • Vacuum, shampoo, sweep, or mop flooring as required
  • Remove and properly dispose of leftover items or debris
  • Coordinate with the property management team to ensure that suites are ready by the 1st of the month
  • Report any issues that may impact suite readiness

Additional Duties

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with residents
  • Follow all occupational health and safety standards and WHMIS guidelines
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and planning events as required
  • Perform other building upkeep duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods (standing, walking, squatting)
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
  • Reliable, punctual, and well-organized
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills with supervisors, residents, and the public
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • WHMIS certification required (training can be provided)
