Working closely with clients, employees, and key stakeholders, the Workplace Investigator will play a critical role in conducting workplace and regulatory body investigations in alignment with policies and legislation, and delivering clear, defensible findings.

This is a senior-level investigator opportunity for experienced professionals—not an entry-level position. Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely from anywhere in British Columbia. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow with the organization. As Xpera continues to expand, the role has the potential to evolve into a leadership position, offering increased responsibility, leadership opportunities, and career advancement.

As part of our selection process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a brief writing exercise and experience review. The successful candidate will also be required to complete a criminal record check as a condition of employment.

What You Will Do:

  • Conduct detailed investigations of individuals in response to client requests through the use of video recorded interviews using a trauma-informed approach. Interviews include the Complainant, Respondent, and any relevant witnesses.
  • Gather and review documentation and evidence gathered during the conduct of each investigation, including e-mails, records, policies and procedures, electronic evidence, video and photographic evidence, etc.
  • Conduct investigations on various workplace related matters, including bullying and harassment, sexual harassment, discriminatory harassment and code of conduct/policy violations.
  • Report findings in a clear, logical, coherent, and unbiased manner to clients in accordance with relevant guidelines, as well as Xpera standards and best practices.
  • Conduct intellectual property investigations via site attendances.
  • Document files accurately with file activity and all information gathered, including video recordings.
  • Provide status updates to clients as required.
  • Maintain current on industry standards and participate in staff meetings and training for information sharing purposes.
  • Attend court or legal proceedings as required.

What You Will Bring:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience with preference given to candidates with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of workplace investigation experience.
  • Education or certification in investigative interviewing, as well as trauma-informed interviewing.
  • Experience in labour relations and workplace investigations involving bargaining unit employees preferred.
  • Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset.
  • A valid Private Investigator License issued by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record with a reliable vehicle currently licensed for business/commercial purposes.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and disseminate investigative results in a timely manner to an appropriate audience for the purpose of meeting clients’ needs.
  • A strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and written skills.
  • An ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timelines while maintaining focus on the task at hand.
  • Client-focused, results-oriented, decisive, and creative problem-solving solutions.

Why Work With Us:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits and RRSP packages from your first day of employment.
  • Great employee perks including discounted gym memberships, shopping discounts, and recognition awards.
  • Employee referral incentives.
  • Business casual environment.
  • Opportunity for career growth and development.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
