Full job description
To supervise and direct the operation of 4-8 agency homes, serving youth and adults. Directs and co-ordinates short-term & Long-term treatment plans, behaviour management plans, individual support plans, and placements of these clients within established Plan of Cares, Child Welfare and Agency mandates. Will manage and provide supervision to a team of full and casual front line Child and Youth Workers and Foster Parents.
Provides supervision and co-ordination to the team of staff including hiring, setting work priorities, scheduling, providing direction and training, setting performance standards and conducting performance reviews etc.
Provides supervision and direction to staff members including assessment of client needs, goal setting, and treatment planning. Evaluates the effectiveness of assessment/treatment planning for the clients in the residence and provides expertise in supporting and training front line staff with respect to this.
Promotes excellence in service delivery to clients and supports staff in the handling of complex cases. Facilitates and empowers staff to explore professional development.
Reviews and edits all Program, Ministry and Agency case related reports that are produced in the Residence.
Formulates, implements and monitors the operating budget for the Residence.
Ensures the Residence operates within Ministry guidelines.
Ensure adherence to Agency Policy and the administration of the Collective Agreement.
Initiates and maintains effective partnership relationships with various internal/external resources and services.
Participates as a member of the Support Services Management team in the development of services and in setting agency priorities.
Provides updates to the Director, Support Services regarding sensitive case or program issues.
Ensures Cornerstone’s Code of Ethics, Confidentiality, Anti-Oppression/ Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination policies, etc. are incorporated into self and team.
Creates and leads teams that reflect diversity, support differences and encourages different perspectives.
Uses sound judgment in consideration of financial resources within agency/departmental budget.
Ensures compliance with Cornerstones financial policies and procedures.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Works and ensures assigned staff, work in a safe manner in accordance with the Cornerstone’s health and safety policies and procedures and all relevant legislation.
Is available to be On-call for programs managed by the supervisor from Monday to Friday.
Is available to be on a rotating weekend On-call schedule for all programs.
Education and Experience
Child and Youth Care diploma (formerly Child and Youth Worker diploma) plus a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in child and adult care services such as residential or treatment resource settings.
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Knowledge and Skills
- Professional knowledge and skills in child care and child management.
- Professional knowledge and skills in adult care and adult management.
- Knowledge of housekeeping functions to ensure total residence operations and establish residence procedures such as menu planning, house rules; good knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of the Child Youth and Family Services Act, Ministry guidelines, QAM guidelines, Cornerstone policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Equity & Inclusion, Anti-oppressive practice and Anti-Black racism
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from a diversity of backgrounds and social locations
- In depth knowledge of the assessment and treatment of hard to serve children, youth and adults.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with an emphasis on a balanced and action oriented management style.
- Demonstrates good administrative skills and ability to prioritize competing work demands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts, elicit co-operation, negotiate and collaborate.
- Demonstrated ability in problem analysis, judgment and decision making, especially under difficult circumstances, with minimum information and time constraints.
- Excellent consultative and presentation skills to liaise with a variety of resources and personnel.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications.

- This position requires you to have, at minimum, 2 Million Dollar Liability Vehicle Insurance. Do you already have this type of insurance? Are you willing to ensure you have this type of insurance upon hire?
- Office hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm; however, as a supervisor you are required to be On-Call to your programs 24 hours per day 5 times per week. Weekend On-call is on a rotating schedule between 3 total supervisors. Weekend On-Call is Friday 5pm to Monday 9am for all programs under the Cornerstone umbrella. Are you willing to take on this responsibility?
- Some programs require physical intervention. Are you capable and comfortable being in a situation where you may have to use UMAB approved restraints?
- Are you in possession of a reliable Vehicle that you have access to on a daily basis?
- There will situations when you will be required to transport service users in your personal vehicle. Are you comfortable with this?

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- Supervisory: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- G Class Licence (required)
- UMAB CERTIFICATE (preferred)
