Full job description

  • Safely work with an Operations crew to move railcars during switching, yard movements, and travel to customer facilities or interchanges;
  • Communicate professionally with customers, crew members, and railway partners to support safe operations;
  • Represent BWRS through a strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, and operational reliability;
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability in the workplace;
  • Observe hand and radio signals in the yard in accordance with railroad rules and regulations;
  • Operate track switches as needed;
  • Perform procedures required to couple/uncouple rail cars;
  • Apply hand brakes on rail cars not in active use; and
  • Ensure proper permissions and authorities are obtained.

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 diploma completion or GED equivalent;
  • Must have experience as a Conductor;
  • Must be in good physical condition; and
  • Must have a clean and valid BC driver’s license, Class 5 minimum.
