Full job description

Since 1946, Craig Manufacturing has been a trusted name in custom-manufactured solutions for heavy construction equipment. As a family-owned business with locations across Canada and the U.S., we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service—and that starts with our people.

At our Cambridge facility, our team specializes in the repair, service, modification, and installation of heavy equipment attachments. You'll work in a clean, safe, and well-equipped environment supporting customers across the region, solving mechanical challenges and ensuring equipment performs reliably in the field. We're committed to your success and growth.

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled Welder/Fitter with a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for quality workmanship. This role focuses primarily on the repair, service, modification, and installation of heavy equipment attachments, both in our Cambridge shop and at customer locations. While welding and fabrication are important aspects of the position, success in this role requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues in the field

This is more than a job—it’s a career path. We’re seeking someone with leadership potential who’s ready to grow into a supervisory position. If you're motivated, reliable, and eager to take on more responsibility, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all-position welding using SMAW and FCAW
  • Repair, modify, and rebuild heavy equipment attachments
  • Perform fitting, fabrication, and welding as required to support repair and service work
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and structural issues on customer equipment
  • Operate gouging, plasma cutting, and torch cutting tools
  • Safely operate cranes and forklifts
  • Install and assemble heavy equipment attachments on-site
  • Ensure proper fit, function, and quality of components
  • Troubleshoot installation issues
  • Work both in-shop and in the field as needed
  • Provide responsive service and technical support to customers in the field

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy plate welding/fitting
  • Valid SMAW and FCAW welding tickets (current or previously held)
  • Strong mechanical repair skills and blueprint reading ability
  • Experience with crane/forklift operation and a valid G class driver’s license
  • Comfortable working independently and on customer sites
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in supervisory training

What We Offer

  • Competitive regional wages
  • Annual boot and uniform allowance
  • Comprehensive medical benefits (single/family coverage)
  • Holiday pay and vacation accrual from year one
  • Matching RRSP program
  • Clean, organized shop environment
  • Performance-based pay incentives

Compensation is based on experience.

We appreciate all applications, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

  • Dental care
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
