E1. The minimum standard is:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EX1. Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and partners, particularly meteorological services, wildland fire management organizations, and research organizations.
EX2. Experience in analysing and interpreting large datasets of natural phenomena.

Information on language requirements

K1. Knowledge of meteorology, climatology and forecasting in Canada; including data sources, approaches, and decision support tools used.

A1. Ability to effectively plan and manage a heavy workload.
A2. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
A4. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Asset experience:
AEX1. Experience preparing and delivering weather forecasts under tight timelines.
AEX2. Experience with modelling/simulation and numerical methods.
AEX3. Experience in knowledge exchange or transfer activities.
AEX4. Experience in wildland fire management and operations.

Asset knowledge:
AK1. Knowledge of experimental research theory and practice
AK2. Knowledge of the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System.
AK3. Knowledge of approaches to emergency management in Canada within the context of wildland fires and other natural hazards.

Operational Requirements:
Travel to various locations in Canada approximately two (2) times a year.
