Position Overview

We are seeking a mechanically inclined Journeyman Electrician with strong troubleshooting abilities and a genuine pride in their workmanship.

This is not a traditional construction electrician role. Our electricians work alongside Heavy Duty Technicians and are involved in all aspects of generator service, maintenance, repairs, inspections, installations, commissioning, and emergency response.

Successful candidates must be comfortable working across both electrical and mechanical systems. One week may involve ATS inspections, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and installations. The next may focus on preventative maintenance, rental generator installations, engine-related repairs, and supporting the mechanical team in the field.

Previous generator experience is an asset, but not required. We are looking for mechanically inclined electricians with strong fundamentals, a willingness to get their hands dirty, and an interest in learning all aspects of power generation systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain generator systems
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections
• Diagnose electrical and control system failures
• Perform ATS inspections, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance
• Complete ATS and generator installations
• Perform rental generator installations and temporary power connections
• Complete building terminations and site electrical connections
• Perform load bank testing and operational testing
• Assist with generator commissioning and startup activities
• Support mechanical troubleshooting and repairs alongside Heavy Duty Technicians
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Communicate professionally with clients and team members
• Complete clear and accurate service reports
• Support apprentice development and training
• Maintain high standards of safety and workmanship

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician (Red Seal preferred)
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
• Expertise reading electrical schematics and control diagrams
• Experience performing Meggar testing on electric motors
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work on complete generator systems
• Comfortable working around diesel engines and mechanical equipment
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

• Generator experience
• CSA C282 inspection experience
• ATS commissioning experience
• ATS inspection and maintenance experience
• Temporary power installation experience
• Generator rental experience
• Diesel engine knowledge
• Industrial electrical experience
• Controls and automation experience
• Power generation experience
• Load bank testing experience
