Full job description

Job Title: HSE Operations Coordinator

Location: SE Calgary, AB (Foothills Industrial Area)

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 Base Salary (Commensurate with Tech Fluency) + $0.70/km Mileage + Health Spending Account (HSA)

About Salient Health & Safety Inc. We are not a traditional safety firm. Salient acts as the fully outsourced, fractional safety department for mid-sized construction and trades companies across Alberta. We don’t just write manuals; we integrate with our clients' operations, digitize their compliance, and manage their daily safety execution. We are growing fast, and looking for a key internal hire to anchor our operations desk, manage our digital systems, and maintain a strong presence in the field.

The Role (The 70/30 Split): We are not looking for a pure field advisor, and we are not looking for an admin assistant. This is a hybrid role for someone who loves building and managing systems but still wants to get their boots dirty.

  • The Desk (70%): You will own our digital architecture. You will manage multiple client accounts in ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks. You will build and manage digital forms in SiteDocs/Corfix/Salus, track training matrices, triage client requests, and project-manage annual COR audits.
  • The Field (30%): You will take the systems you manage and deploy them in the field. You will conduct routine site inspections for local Calgary trades clients, lead toolbox talks, and confidently coach 25-year superintendents on how to use the software you built.

Who You Are:

  • You have past experience as an HSE Administrator, Safety Coordinator, or Project Assistant and want a role with a clear pathway to operational leadership.
  • You ideally have a background working directly for a mid-sized trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing) and have the thick skin and emotional intelligence to communicate persuasively with site crews.
  • You have a high degree of tech fluency. You do not fear new software; you figure it out. Construction management systems like BuilderTrend and Procore aren't intimidating for you.

Core Requirements:

  • Credentials: Active NHSA (Health & Safety Administrator) or actively completing your NCSO program.
  • Tech Skills: Mandatory experience managing contractor registries (ISN/Avetta) and field safety apps (SiteDocs, Salus, Corfix, etc.).
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of actual administrative/coordination experience in construction or trades safety.
  • Logistics: Must have a reliable personal vehicle, a valid Class 5 license, and a clean abstract for local site travel.

The Perks:

  • Work Location: In-person at our SE Calgary office to start. Once you pass your 90-day probationary period and demonstrate independent mastery of our systems, we are fully open to a hybrid work-from-home schedule.
  • Benefits: $1,500 Health Spending Account (HSA), mileage reimbursement, casual dress, and a flexible schedule.

How to Apply: We are a Managed Service Provider (MSP) that relies heavily on flawless data management. Attention to detail is non-negotiable. To be considered for an interview, you must include a brief cover letter or direct message that explains why you have the unique safety experience, tech fluency and blue-collar grit to excel in this specific 70/30 role.

Resumes submitted without this message will be automatically rejected.

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Dental care
  • Extended health care
  • Flexible schedule
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Vision care

Application question(s):

  • Do you have direct, hands-on experience managing and uploading data to contractor registries such as ISNetworld, Avetta, or ComplyWorks?

Work Location: In person
