About Us

Niagara Orthopaedic Institute is a locally owned, leading healthcare facility specializing in orthopaedic care, sports medicine, and rehabilitation services. Located within the 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Niagara Sports Medicine Centre, our multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, osteopaths, kinesiologists, and personal trainers.

Our facility features the largest indoor rehabilitation area in the region, complete with a turfed training surface and advanced rehabilitation equipment. We are committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a supportive, collaborative, and professional environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Administrative Assistant / Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Niagara Falls team. This hybrid role combines front desk administration with hands-on patient support in our rehabilitation clinic.

The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a positive patient experience, assisting clinicians with treatment sessions, and ensuring the clinic operates efficiently day-to-day.

Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties

  • Welcome patients and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and manage clinic correspondence.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments for a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update patient demographics.
  • Process payments, billing, and insurance claims.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, and other administrative tasks.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.

Physiotherapy Assistant Duties

  • Assist physiotherapists in implementing treatment plans and exercise programs.
  • Prepare treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions.
  • Provide guidance and support to patients during exercises and rehabilitation activities.
  • Monitor and document patient progress under the direction of clinicians.
  • Educate patients on home exercises and proper exercise techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and rehabilitation areas.
  • Adhere to clinic safety standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to support excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Physiotherapy Assistant program, Kinesiology degree/diploma, or related healthcare education is required.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, rehabilitation, fitness, or customer service environment is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Friendly, professional, and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems.
  • Experience with Practice Perfect, HCAI, Telus Health, Provider Connect, Sun Life Portal, Avaros, or Juno is considered an asset.
