Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and possess the skills necessary to prepare high-quality sushi dishes. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for crafting delicious sushi rolls and sashimi, ensuring that all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Duties

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes, including rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, with attention to detail and presentation.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality by regularly checking inventory and sourcing supplies.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures to maintain food safety standards at all times.
  • Assist in meal preparation by preparing ingredients such as rice, vegetables, and seafood.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area, including proper sanitation of work surfaces and equipment.
  • Help train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to sushi and Japanese cuisine.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in a restaurant setting.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in presentation are essential.
