Position Overview

The Restaurant & Patio Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel’s restaurants and Sunset Terrace Patio, ensuring an exceptional dining and entertainment experiences that reflects The Fort Garry Hotel’s standards of luxury, service, and hospitality. This role leads front-of-house operations in either of our outlets, drives service excellence, manages team performance, and ensures efficient operations while maintaining a refined and welcoming environment for all guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and patio, ensuring smooth and efficient service during all meal periods
  • Plan, organize, and manage service flow to deliver a seamless guest experience
  • Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and presentation of dining areas, including patio readiness, cleanliness, and ambiance
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily reporting
  • Deliver and uphold exceptional guest service standards aligned with The Fort Garry Hotel’s brand
  • Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction and promptly resolve concerns in a professional manner
  • Anticipate guest needs and create personalized, memorable dining experiences
  • Oversee reservations, seating plans, and guest flow to maximize efficiency and comfort
  • Lead, coach, and motivate front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and support staff
  • Recruit, train, and develop employees to maintain high service standards and product knowledge
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, professionalism, and accountability
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Ensure strong knowledge and execution of food, wine, and beverage service standards
  • Collaborate with culinary and bar teams to ensure menu quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Promote upselling and product knowledge among team members
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with regulations
  • Monitor and control restaurant and bar inventory, including ordering and stock levels
  • Manage labour costs, scheduling, and productivity targets
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives
  • Analyze operational performance and implement improvements
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Maintain adherence to liquor laws, workplace safety standards, and hotel policies
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all work areas, equipment, and storage
  • Oversee seasonal patio setup, operations, and maintenance
  • Ensure weather readiness, guest comfort, and ambiance standards
  • Adapt service flow and staffing to meet fluctuating patio demand

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in restaurant or hospitality management, preferably in an upscale or hotel environment
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and restaurant operations
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Smart Choices and Food Handler Certification required
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously with guests, colleagues, and leadership
  • Demonstrate strong leadership presence and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain grooming and presentation standards reflective of a luxury hotel environment
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
