We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as a Health and Safety Officer. This role offers a great opportunity for an individual who is passionate about workplace safety, employee well-being, and fostering a positive and compliant work environment across our organization.

Summary: The Health and Safety Officer will work closely with all levels of management and employees within Canad Inns properties and office environments to ensure safe work practices, policies, and procedures are followed. This position is responsible for supporting health and safety initiatives, promoting compliance with applicable legislation and company standards, managing disability programs, and assisting with return-to-work processes to ensure employees receive appropriate support and benefits. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, demonstrate attention to detail, and be committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Salary Range: $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee Health & Safety compliance across all locations
  • Support and guide property-level Health & Safety Committees
  • Ensure all required inspections, audits, and reporting are completed
  • Manage incident investigations and follow-up actions
  • Maintain and update safety documentation and policies
  • Coordinate training and certification requirements
  • Act as the primary contact for safety-related concerns, including but not limited to WCB, Return to Work programs
  • Support a proactive hazard identification and risk mitigation approach

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in Health & Safety
  • Experience managing Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims, including incident reporting, claim coordination, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Experience with disability case management, return-to-work planning, and workplace accommodation processes.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable workplace health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Health & Safety education or certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Must be able to travel regularly between Canad Inns properties across Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Brandon, and Portage la Prairie.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in training, audits, and incident investigation
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
