Full job description

Maintenance Technician

The Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery has been brewing bold, creative beer on the waterfront in downtown Barrie since 2004. We are looking for a skilled, dependable Maintenance Technician to help keep our production equipment, building systems, and brewery facility operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Operations Manager and Management Team. The successful candidate will be flexible and available to support morning, afternoon, night, and weekend work as needed. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment used in beer production, packaging, and facility operations.

· Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to identify and resolve potential issues before equipment failure.

· Complete purchase logs, process sheets, and maintenance records accurately and on time.

· Maintain electrical, plumbing, water, compressed-air, filtration, heating, cooling, and related facility systems.

· Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and support production teams with setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, and repairs.

· Follow all health and safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices requirements.

· Coordinate and schedule approved contractors as needed.

· Maintain clean, organized work areas and support strong housekeeping and 5S practices.

· Perform other maintenance-related duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

· Minimum of two years of maintenance experience preferred.

· Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems.

· Strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on technical knowledge, and effective problem-solving skills.

· Experience in a food, beverage, production, or packaging environment considered an asset.

· Working knowledge of electrical systems, refrigeration, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, vacuum systems, plumbing, fabrication, welding, and general equipment maintenance preferred.

· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety regulations considered an asset.

· Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and technical documentation.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.

· Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.

· Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

· Availability to work a rotating schedule, including Saturdays, as required.
