Work with Aramark at the University of Alberta you will be responsible for the daily management of all Health and Safety related documentation. Provide support for all Health and Safety matters including claims management, training, injury reporting, Joint Health and Safety Committees, Audits and Site visits.

Position Summary:

• The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting a healthy and safe workplace by monitoring operations and encouraging strategies to support safety at work, including Pest control, chemical treatments for Pest control, work closely with Vendor
• Work with First Aid (Cintas) on Location visits
• The Health & Safety Coordinator plays a key role in educating employees on the importance of following safety protocols to achieve Aramark’s Target Zero (no harm to people or to the environment)
• Enforce and train in Aramark’s health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with site, company and government regulations and legislation.
• Organize and conduct employee safety orientation (in or on other sites) and ensure all employees have up to date training and schedule Orientations for new EE’s before they start work.
• Work with management to design and promote strategies that protect employees from workplace hazards including regular Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) reviews.
• Conduct incident Incident investigations and submit reports through Aramark system to document findings.
• Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and conduct workplace audits/inspections in and on other sites to ensure compliance to health and safety requirements.
• Conduct weekly SAFE Observations for all Sites and safety walkthroughs to educate employees on safety topics.
• Maintain accurate reports on all health and safety related documentation including Health & Safety boards.
• Prepare for Site Audits (WCB, Aramark Audits and others)
• Arrange First Aid and Advanced Food safety training for Staff and Management
• Review internal and external health and safety reports to identify and implement actions for improvement.
• Perform administrative duties as required for the Assistant General Manager and General Manager including taking notes, creating presentations, etc.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by Management
• Assist as DSL (District Safety Leader) for District Manager
• Experience in WORD, EXCEL, Powerpoint
