Fawn Bluff Residences Ltd.

Bute Inlet, British Columbia

Fawn Bluff is a private coastal wilderness retreat located in the heart of Bute Inlet on British Columbia's central coast.

Our mission is to create exceptional guest experiences while acting as responsible stewards of the land, waters, wildlife, and cultural heritage that make this place unique. Through our partnership with the Homalco First Nation, we strive to build a destination where hospitality, conservation, culture, and community come together.

This is not a traditional lodge position.

Fawn Bluff is a remote property with extensive infrastructure, marine operations, accommodation facilities, wilderness recreation areas, vehicles, equipment, and ongoing improvement projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping care for the property while assisting in the delivery of world-class guest experiences.

Position Overview

The Caretaker & Guest Experience Guide is first and foremost a caretaker of the property.This role is responsible for maintaining the condition, safety, functionality, and presentation of Fawn Bluff's facilities, grounds, vehicles, vessels, and guest-use areas.

During guest stays, the successful candidate will also assist with guest transportation, outdoor recreation, property orientation, and the delivery of exceptional hospitality experiences.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a wide variety of responsibilities, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable living and working in a remote wilderness environment.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, utilities, docks, trails, and infrastructure

Complete preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs

Maintain equipment, tools, vehicles, and vessels

Assist with landscaping, trail maintenance, and property beautification

Monitor fuel, supplies, and operational inventories

Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems

Assist with seasonal construction and improvement projects

Support emergency preparedness and response systems

Ensure guest and staff areas remain safe, clean, and operational

Guest Experience Support

Welcome and orient guests upon arrival

Provide property tours and safety briefings

Assist with transportation by vehicle and vessel

Support outdoor activities including hiking, paddling, fishing, wildlife viewing, and waterfront recreation

Act as a knowledgeable ambassador for the property and surrounding region

Help maintain a high standard of hospitality throughout each guest stay

Assist other departments as operational needs require

Stewardship & Safety

Promote safe work practices and support WorkSafeBC requirements

Participate in wildlife awareness and bear safety programs

Respect and support Indigenous cultural values and partnerships

Assist in maintaining environmental stewardship initiatives throughout the property

Contribute to a positive team culture focused on professionalism, respect, and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in caretaking, property maintenance, facilities management, ranch operations, resort operations, or similar environments

Experience operating boats and marine equipment

Experience working in hospitality, tourism, guiding, or outdoor recreation

Mechanical aptitude and confidence with tools and equipment

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Comfortable living and working in a remote location

Assets

Occupational First Aid certification

SVOP, MED, ROC-M, or other marine certifications

Equipment operation experience

Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or general trades experience

Wilderness first aid or outdoor leadership experience

Knowledge of British Columbia coastal environments and wildlife
