Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and attentive Traffic Controller to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and equipment at construction sites. This role is vital in maintaining safety protocols, directing traffic flow, and supporting construction operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with heavy equipment operation, paving, or construction environments, and possess strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and drivers. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic construction setting with a focus on safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control vehicle and equipment movement on construction sites to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Use hand signals, radios, or signage to communicate with drivers and construction personnel
  • Monitor traffic flow around active work zones and adjust controls as needed
  • Assist with the setup and removal of traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, and signs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies at all times
  • Support heavy equipment operation when necessary, including guiding machinery during paving or other construction activities
  • Maintain clear documentation of traffic control activities and report any incidents or hazards immediately

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in traffic control, heavy equipment operation, paving, or general construction is preferred
  • Ability to operate basic traffic control devices and communicate effectively using hand signals or radios
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures related to construction zones and traffic management
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk long distances within the site, and perform manual tasks as needed
  • Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness to identify potential hazards promptly
  • Valid certifications related to traffic control or heavy equipment operation are a plus but not required
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to changing site requirements

This position is integral to maintaining a safe work environment while supporting the successful completion of construction projects.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
