Join us at our family owned and operated Placer Gold Mine outside of Dawson City, Yukon until October of 2026 as a Pilot Car Driver. This is a hiring multiple candidates, we are looking for a driver with a clean class 5 drivers abstract, with preference to candidates already holding TCP tickets. Pilot car drivers will travel northern and remote highways escorting class 1 drivers hauling oversized loads.

Responsibilities:

- Follow all traffic laws and cooperate with DOT

- Comply with all regulations and permits in regard to the load

- Communicate effectively and respectfully on Ladd radio

- Clean and maintain your assigned unit

- Pre trip your unit every day and advise base crew of maintenance needs

- Light labour when loading/chaining

- Responsible for the safety of the public, the load, the load driver and yourself

- Navigate worksites, remote areas and lay downs efficiently

- Report any and all accidents, damage, or violations to the base office

- Responsible for any tickets or fines acquired while you are escorted

Qualifications:

- Class 5 driver’s license

- Traffic Control Person ticket

If there is downtime the successful candidate will be expected to learn operation of articulated rock trucks or other heavy machinery.

Nights on the road will be spent in the pilot car – not in hotels. Pilot cars are outfitted with beds.

This is a camp position with a 12 day on, 2 days off shift with variation when on the road. We offer relocation assistance to get to the Yukon however this is NOT fly in fly out work, nor is end of season travel covered. Camp accommodations include a private room, shared wash facilities and a dining hall providing 3 meals a day.

Wages $25/hour with overtime after 8hrs.

11hrs/day, 77hrs/week while stationed in camp. Hours on the road will vary based off the class 1 driver you are paired with.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
