This is a rare, practical leadership opportunity within a highly creative studio. The successful candidate will establish clear priorities, direct an experienced team and maintain accountability while protecting the collaborative, energetic and enjoyable culture that makes Stemz distinctive.

THE ROLE

What you will lead

TEAM LEADERSHIP & RESOURCE PLANNING

  • Lead, direct, mentor and support an experienced floral production team of approximately two to eight designers, depending on the production schedule.
  • Set clear daily expectations, allocate work effectively and hold the team accountable for quality, efficiency and deadlines.
  • Identify floral design capacity required for each production period and communicate those needs to the Staffing and Logistics Manager.
  • Foster a positive, respectful and productive studio culture while remaining calm and decisive during demanding production periods.

PRODUCTION PLANNING & OPERATIONS

  • Create, maintain and continuously update the master Floral Production Plan in Microsoft Teams.
  • Production plan major weddings and events approximately three to four weeks in advance, adjusting as event details evolve.
  • Translate event requirements into daily workflow, priorities, designer assignments and achievable timelines.
  • Monitor progress and reassign resources or priorities when requirements change.
  • Oversee floral preparation and ensure completed designs are ready for an organized handoff to the logistics team.
  • Maintain an organized, efficient and safe design floor that is ready for production.

FLORAL DESIGN & QUALITY CONTROL

  • Interpret approved creative concepts from the client creative leads and translate their vision into floral designs that are ready for production.
  • Create floral samples and mockups for client presentations, weddings and events.
  • Ensure production reflects approved samples, specifications and creative direction.
  • Maintain Stemz standards for floral quality, proportion, mechanics, finishing and presentation.
  • Guide designers and resolve creative or technical challenges during production.

CROSS DEPARTMENT COORDINATION

  • Partner with client creative leads to confirm floral requirements, protect the approved creative vision and assess production feasibility.
  • Coordinate with the Head Floral Buyer regarding availability, substitutions, quantities and ordering.
  • Communicate floral production schedules, completed design requirements and installation plans to the appropriate departments.
  • Identify concerns early and recommend practical solutions that protect the design intent, timeline and budget.

EVENT INSTALLATION

  • Lead or assist with floral installations at weddings, corporate events and brand activations.
  • Ensure designs are executed according to the approved concept and completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Direct installation teams during large scale events or projects with demanding timelines.

INVENTORY, TOOLS & STUDIO READINESS

  • Monitor floral supplies, tools and consumable materials and arrange replenishment when required.
  • Maintain organized inventory of silk flowers and floral supplies.
  • Ensure tools, materials and work areas are properly maintained and ready for production.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A minimum of five years of professional floral design experience, including substantial wedding and event production experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading floral designers or a comparable creative production team.
  • Advanced floral design ability and a strong understanding of mechanics, scale, colour, composition and premium finishing.
  • Excellent planning, prioritization, delegation, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Confidence directing experienced team members and making sound decisions under pressure.
  • A collaborative and practical approach with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Above all, we are looking for a generous, grounded and highly collaborative person who understands that exceptional work is created together. Our team culture is our greatest asset and protecting that culture is fundamental to this role.
