Full job description

Skilled Builder – Interior Finishing

Pine T&G | Drywall | Flooring | Tile | Trim | Insulation | Vapour Barrier | Interior Systems

Please read the entire post and answer all questions when applying.

Applications will be reviewed the first week of November, with interviews starting the second week of November. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.

Are you the person who walks into a finished room and immediately spots the crooked trim, the open miter or the floor that doesn't sit right?

Do you understand that interior finishing is where a build comes to life, and where the client sees your work every single day?

Are you looking for a team that's going somewhere, and wants you to go with them?

If that's you, keep reading.

Who We Are

At Elk Ridge Modular, we build high-end modular homes and cabins under one roof in Coldstream, BC. That's 18,000 sq ft of clean, organized shop with room to move and room to grow.

Our buildings leave the shop anywhere from 90% to 100% complete, so the interior finish happens here, in a controlled environment. That means no fighting the weather and no mud, and you have the time and conditions to get it right.

We're building multi-module, multi-storey projects headed for some of the coolest locations in BC. We're growing fast, the work keeps getting more interesting, and we're doing it with a team that gives a damn.

What We're AboutOur Purpose

We exist to inspire trust and confidence by building exceptional homes and cultivating a world-class team. We're here to lead the industry forward with craftsmanship, innovation, and a commitment to being here for our clients, today and in the next decade.

Our Niche

We thrive on unique builds and challenging locations. Where other builders say no, we find a way. From design to delivery, we bring innovation and transparency to every stage.

Our Core Values

Bring The Energy

Move with purpose. Everything you do moves the team forward.

Innovate Relentlessly

Challenge the status quo. Find the better, smarter way.

Own Your Impact

We take responsibility for our work, our actions, and the outcomes they create.

Team Up For Growth

Commitment to personal and professional growth. We win as a team and lose as a team.

These aren't posters on a wall. They're how we hire, how we run our meetings, and how we decide who moves up.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a Skilled Builder in Interior Finishing to take ownership of the interior completion phase of our builds.

This role focuses on:

  • Pine tongue & groove wall and ceiling installation
  • Drywall hanging, boarding, and finishing preparation
  • Insulation installation
  • Vapour barrier systems
  • Click-together vinyl and laminate flooring systems
  • Tile installation and finishing
  • Interior door installation
  • Pine, MDF, and finish trim systems
  • Cabinet and fixture installation support
  • Interior quality control and finishing details

You'll work in a structured production environment alongside our framing, mechanical, electrical, and exterior teams to bring projects to completion. You'll also help mentor Entry-Level Builders working in the interior phases.

But the trade skill is only half of it. We can teach process and systems, and we'll invest in your development. What we're looking for is someone with the right attitude who wants to grow with us.

Here's who does well here:

You're honest, even when it costs you something. If you screw up, you say so. If something's wrong, you flag it early instead of hoping nobody notices. We'd rather hear about a problem at 9am than find it at 4pm.

You take pride in your work. Not because someone's watching, but because you can't help it. You care what your work looks like with your name on it.

You want to get better. You're not looking for a place to coast for the next ten years. You want to learn, take on more, and be worth more a year from now than you are today.

You bring ideas, not just complaints. If you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it. Some of our best process changes came from someone on the floor saying "why do we do it like this?"

You're easy to work alongside. You show up happy and eager. You take feedback without getting defensive, you help someone who's stuck, and you don't make the day harder for the people around you.

You show up. Consistently, on time, ready to go. It sounds basic. It isn't.

You have a sense of humour. We work hard and we go at it, but we like the people we work with.

If you understand that interior finishing is where craftsmanship becomes visible, you'll fit here.

What This Role Is Accountable For

  • Professionally representing Elk Ridge Modular in all interactions
  • Executing interior finishing systems according to design, engineering, and spec
  • Installing insulation and vapour barrier systems correctly and efficiently
  • Installing pine T&G wall and ceiling systems to a high aesthetic standard
  • Completing drywall, flooring, tile, trim, and finish carpentry scopes accurately
  • Installing interior doors, trims, and finishing details with precision
  • Supporting cabinetry, fixture, and finishing package installs
  • Coordinating with production teams to maintain project flow
  • Submitting daily Work in Progress reports
  • Providing feedback on sequencing, efficiency, and process improvements
  • Assisting with occasional service or warranty work
  • Assisting with product delivery when required
  • Mentoring and guiding Entry-Level Builders
  • Looking after your weekly health, fitness, and mindfulness goals
  • Any other duties requested by ERM Leadership

Experience & Traits Needed

  • 5+ years of construction experience
  • Proven experience in interior finishing systems
  • Experience with pine T&G, drywall, flooring, trim, tile, insulation, and vapour barrier
  • Strong understanding of interior assembly sequencing
  • Ability to read drawings and follow install specs
  • High attention to detail
  • Pride in fit, finish, and craftsmanship
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • A good sense of humour. Construction supplies enough nonsense on its own.

Not Required, But Helpful

  • Forklift experience
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience in prefab or modular construction
  • Cabinet install experience
  • Basic paint prep or finishing experience

Benefits

  • Benefits package at 3 months
  • 45-minute paid lunch
  • Mostly indoor work in our Coldstream facility
  • Power tools supplied. Just bring your pouch and basic hand tools.
  • Team events. Let's have some fun together getting off-grid for a few days, having a lunch to celebrate some wins, or going for a round of golf.
  • On-site parking
  • Live & work where others vacation

Compensation

  • $30–$45/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Based at our Coldstream, BC facility

If you're just "kind of okay" at trim or flooring, this probably isn't your lane. If you can walk into a finished room and immediately spot what's crooked, unfinished, or done poorly, and you take pride in being the one who gets it right, we should talk.

Training & Growth

  • In-shop training with experienced team members
  • Training on our building systems and products
  • Clear performance expectations
  • Personal, professional, and technical development planning
