Full job description

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

Candidates who are fluent in both English and French will be given preference.


About the role:

You’re an expert in real estate financing, effortlessly navigating CMHC guidelines with confidence. Your strength lies in analyzing and underwriting CMHC-insured, conventional, and commercial real estate loans. Backed by a strong financial background, you consistently meet deadlines without compromising quality. Your communication skills are exceptional—you connect smoothly with colleagues across all levels and external partners alike. You’re unafraid to speak up when questions arise and thrive on collaborating with your team to find the best solutions. As a forward thinker, you excel in dynamic, fast-paced settings where teamwork and agility are key.

About the day-to-day:

  • Evaluate and recommend conventional and CMHC mortgage loans in the Region in accordance with procedures and policy guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Account Manager and regional VP on new loan applications for all types of real estate transactions from inquiry stage to formal commitment.
  • Engage directly with clients and brokers throughout the loan application process, ensuring high-quality underwriting standards and cultivating strong, professional relationships.
  • Review appraisals, environmental and building condition reports and any other third-party reports in accordance with policy.
  • Review and verify all required documentation from CMHC and the internal credit approval team to ensure completeness and compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of rate locks and delivery of all related documentation to clients and brokers.
  • Create and monitor monthly results reports, including inputting data through CRM.
  • Be able to quantify the impact of loans by focusing on improving key metrics, KPIs, and maximizing ROI.

About the qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the commercial real estate finance industry with a strong understanding of Canadian commercial real estate markets.
  • Strong financial background and acumen.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CMHC policies, corporate lending guidelines, and regional market dynamics.
  • Proficient in analyzing financial statements to support informed decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Skilled at prioritizing tasks effectively to meet business objectives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including data analysis, visualization, and automation.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Well-versed in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (French/English) an asset.
  • Thrives under pressure, consistently delivering results within tight deadlines.
  • CFA, CPA, MFin, or equivalent qualifications are preferred.

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $70,000 and $80,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
