FarHeater Engineering Inc. is a multidisciplinary MEP consulting engineering firm established in 2017, specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Sprinkler engineering services for commercial, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, industrial, residential, and mixed-use developments across Canada and internationally coordinated projects.

Our team brings more than 25 years of combined engineering and project management experience, delivering professional engineering solutions for a wide range of projects including hotels, medical clinics, laboratories, warehouses, restaurants, high-rise residential developments, office fit-outs, banquet halls, industrial facilities, and large-scale mixed-use developments.

FarHeater Engineering Inc. operates from its Markham, Ontario office while also expanding its operations internationally, including active coordination and engineering involvement in U.S.-based developments and projects.

At FarHeater Engineering Inc., team members are directly involved in real-world engineering design, multidisciplinary coordination, client interaction, and project development through all project phases including Permit, Tender, and Construction Administration.

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer (Building) to join our growing engineering team.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Designer will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, architects, and consultants in the development and coordination of building mechanical systems for various project types.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, motivated, and capable of working in a fast-paced consulting engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical design drawings and layouts using MEP AutoCAD and Revit
  • Assist in HVAC, Plumbing, and Drainage system design
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Architectural, Structural, and Sprinkler disciplines
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations
  • Assist with equipment selections and system layouts
  • Prepare permit and tender drawing/documents
  • Participate in construction administration activities including site reviews and shop drawing reviews
  • Coordinate with municipalities, contractors, architects, and clients
  • Conduct field reviews and existing site condition surveys
  • Review and coordinate shop drawings and RFIs
  • Support project delivery schedules and internal coordination
  • Ensure drawings and deliverables comply with project requirements and applicable codes and standards

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in mechanical building services consulting
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical Building Systems
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC), National Building Code (NBC), ASHRAE, and applicable standards
  • Proficiency in MEP AutoCAD and Revit is mandatory
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in healthcare, hospitality, commercial, residential, or industrial projects is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with sprinkler/fire protection, Hydraulic Calculation coordination is considered an asset

Work Location

This is a full-time in-office position based in our Markham, Ontario office. Remote work is not available for this role.
