Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Fire Extinguisher Inspection Technician to join our team full-time. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, tagging, and documenting portable fire extinguishers at customer locations while ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform annual inspections of portable fire extinguishers at various customer sites
  • Check condition, pressure, accessibility, and compliance of units
  • Tag and document all inspections accurately
  • Identify units requiring maintenance, recharge, or replacement
  • Communicate findings clearly with customers and office staff
  • Maintain an organized service vehicle and equipment
  • Follow company procedures and safety standards at all times

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Clean criminal record check & child abuse registry check
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to perform physical work (lifting up to 50lbs, carrying, walking between sites)

Assets (not required):

  • Experience in fire protection or related field
  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience
  • Knowledge of fire safety equipment or inspection procedures

  • This is a full-time, year-round position with consistent weekday hours. Are you looking for long-term employment?

  • Are you physically able to lift 50 lbs and perform hands-on work (carrying extinguishers, climbing stairs, etc.)?
  • This job involves visiting different locations daily, working in industrial, commercial, and sometimes loud and/or dirty environments. Are you comfortable with that?
  • We provide paid training and certification for this role. Are you committed to successfully completing this required training?
  • Do you have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation? How many years of driving experience do you have? Are you comfortable driving a service vehicle and traveling within a 200 km service area?
  • This position starts at $18.00/hour and increases to $19.00/hour once certified to inspect fire extinguishers, with future wage growth possible based on performance and annual reviews. Are you comfortable with this starting wage and interested in moving forward?
