Orion Safety Equipment is accepting Resumes for a Fire Extinguisher Technician to join our team. This is important work that is often under appreciated.

Fire Extinguishers are everywhere and they play’s a very important role in basically every environment. They are rarely used however in the unfortunate event that one is required, it is imperative that every Fire Extinguisher in the field is ready for action when duty calls. This requires frequent Inspections and a cycle of service to ensure that when needed, it will work as intended.

This position is for Certified, Trained and Licensed Technician that knows the importance of doing the job with precision without fail. (Not Certified? No problem… We will put you through the training and enrollee you in the course on our dime)

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time - We do have lots of work that need to be done. The position will be working with another full time Technician.

Job Duties:

  • Inspect, Maintain & Service every fire extinguisher according to requirements specified in the NFPA10 2013 Edition and the National Fire Code Alberta -2019
  • Certify, Tag and Commission New Fire Extinguishers.
  • Certify Fire Extinguishers with Annual Inspections as Required.
  • Recharge and service Fire Extinguishers after any event that releases contents or if pressure is below required level.
  • At six year intervals, Evacuate and fill fire extinguisher that pass Inspection according to the National Fire Code.
  • At 12 year intervals, Evacuate, Hydrotest and fill fire extinguisher that pass Inspection according to the National Fire Code.
  • Record for invoicing, all parts used during service.
  • Ensure that all Service & Repairs are documented.
  • Maintain inventory levels as required.
  • Workplace is always kept organized and clean.
  • Ensure all paperwork related to this department is sorted and filed.
  • Communicate daily of the state of equipment to the Respective Operations Coordinators.
  • Reporting all injuries, incidents, and hazardous conditions to your supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Be fit for duty daily
  • Comply with all of Orion Safety’s and/or Clients rules and expectations
  • Proven track record of exceptional customer service
  • Must have strong written and communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment or as an Individual
  • Be physically fit to accommodate job demands
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol testing

Preference given to those with Safety Equipment Experience in:

  • Fire Extinguisher Service / Inspections

  • Class 5 Drivers License

Willingness to travel:

  • 5% (preferred)
