CarpenterVertical Grain | Custom Homes & Renovations

North Shore & Greater Vancouver

Every Detail Matters.

At Vertical Grain, we believe the best homes are built by people who care.

We are a custom home builder and renovation company focused on creating exceptional homes through thoughtful construction, collaboration, and craftsmanship. With our own in-house millwork shop, we're able to carry our attention to detail from framing through to the final installation.

Our projects are challenging. Our expectations are high. And that's exactly why our clients choose us.

We're looking for experienced carpenters who take pride in doing things the right way—not the easy way.

What You'll Do

  • Build custom homes and complex renovations from the ground up.
  • Perform everything from structural framing to detailed finish carpentry.
  • Install custom architectural features and collaborate with our in-house millwork team.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Help maintain clean, organized and safe job sites.
  • Mentor apprentices and contribute to a positive team culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of residential carpentry experience.
  • Experience building custom homes or major renovations.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and building practices.
  • Detail-oriented with pride in quality workmanship.
  • Reliable, professional and solutions-focused.
  • A team player who values communication and accountability.

Why Vertical Grain?

You'll work alongside talented people who genuinely care about their craft. We don't chase volume—we focus on building homes we're proud to put our name on.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Extended health and dental benefits.
  • Paid vacation.
  • Opportunities to grow into leadership roles.
  • Interesting projects with exceptional clients, architects and designers.
  • A culture built around respect, craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

We Believe

The difference between a good home and a remarkable one is found in the details.

The extra hour spent getting something right.
The willingness to solve problems instead of covering them up.
The pride of knowing your work will be admired for generations.

If that sounds like the way you work, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and tell us why you'd be a great fit for Vertical Grain.
