Location: 420 Wes Graham Way Suite 312, Waterloo, ON N2L 0J6
Type: Full-Time | Monday to Friday (8:30AM to 5PM Eastern)
Hybrid Work Schedule - This role follows a hybrid work arrangement, with flexibility to work remotely and an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the Waterloo head office from time to time for meetings, collaboration, training, and other business needs.
Compensation: $125,000-$180,000 (commensurate with experience)

TriCert Investment Counsel is an independent Canadian portfolio management firm based in Waterloo, Ontario managing approximately $4.5 billion in client assets. We work closely with our clients' accountants and financial planners to provide an integrated wealth management experience, helping ensure investment decisions are informed by a broader understanding of each client's financial, tax, and planning circumstances.
We are growing and looking for a junior Portfolio Manager to join our Client Portfolio Management team. This is an opportunity for an investment professional to manage discretionary portfolios, build trusted client relationships, and contribute to investment decision-making within a disciplined, client-focused portfolio management firm.
The successful candidate is client-facing and will work closely with new and existing clients, Portfolio Managers, advisors, and CPAs across the TriCert Group. This role is well suited to someone who combines sound investment judgment with strong communication skills, a compliance-minded approach, and a commitment to delivering thoughtful, integrated advice.
This is a full-time role based out of our Waterloo head office. TriCert operates in a hybrid work environment that combines in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work, in accordance with the firm's hybrid work practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain discretionary client portfolios in line with TriCert's investment philosophy, strategies, and guidelines
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients and collaborate with advisors and CPAs across the TriCert Group
- Understand each client's investment objectives and communicate portfolio strategy, performance, market developments, and recommendations clearly
- Carry out registerable activity in accordance with applicable securities laws, regulatory requirements, and TriCert policies and procedures
- Liase with our Investment Management & Strategy reseach team to obtain the required security-specific knowledge to construct client portfolios
- Maintain awareness of economic conditions, financial markets, investment risks, opportunities, and new products that may affect client portfolios
- Collaborate with the Portfolio Management team on portfolio construction, security selection, risk management, and investment process improvements
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies within the Portfolio Management practice
- Participate in projects, committees, and other assignments as required
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related field
- At least 1-3 years of relevant investment and portfolio management experience, including experience delivering discretionary investment management services to high-net-worth clients
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as an Advising Representative with the appropriate provincial securities commission
- Strong knowledge of macroeconomics, capital markets, portfolio construction, and their potential impact on client portfolios
- Ability to explain market views, portfolio strategy, and complex investment concepts clearly to clients and other stakeholders
- Strong presentation, writing, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build trusted client relationships and effectively manage expectations across a diverse client base
- A compliance-minded approach to client, investment, and regulatory matters
- Experience using financial analysis software and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
The following experience/credentials would be considered strong assets:
- A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter
- A Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation combined with significant relevant investment industry experience
- A master's degree in finance or a related field
- Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application in investment research, analysis, and workflow improvement
