Full job description

Job Overview
In pursuit of our mission to develop and maintain a self-supporting community for our children, Woodland Cree First Nation (WCFN) is proud to begin administering and operating Cadotte Lake School for the 2026-2027 school year.

Reporting to the Education Director, the Education Financial Controller will provide leadership and vision for the provision of financial and business services to internal and external stakeholders for Woodland Cree First Nation Education Department.

Duties

  • Managing all aspects of the Education Department financial and accounting functions
  • Managing accounting software
  • Administer multiple budgets including Post-Secondary Education Funding, Indigenous Services Employment Training Program, Cadotte Lake School
  • Advocate for and manage WCFN financial partnerships, policies, and Treat rights
  • Liaise with Federal, Provincial, and WCFN departments
  • Administer payroll for all education department employees

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently on and off Woodland Cree First Nation to support the school and education department; hybrid working arrangement will be considered
  • Comprehensive or comparable financial leadership in a First Nation, municipal, K-12 and/or advanced education environment
  • A minimum of three years of accounting experience
  • Proven leadership ability and attendance
  • A professional accounting designation CPA (CMA, CGA, or CA) an asset

  • Salary range is $70,000-$90,000 annually
