Company Overview

Park West Professional Services delivers online personal lending solutions to customers across the United States through a digital platform. We're committed to accessible financial services backed by strong compliance, professionalism, and customer care.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Finance Controller to work directly with our CFO and take full ownership of the company's accounting function.

This is a senior role with a genuinely hands-on core. Day to day, you'll be the one doing the reconciliations, posting the journal entries, and closing the books — not just reviewing someone else's work. At the same time, you'll step back regularly to analyze results, flag trends, and advise the CFO on budgeting, cash flow, and business decisions. As the company grows, you'll help build the systems and processes needed to scale the function.

What You'll Do

  • Perform bank/credit-card reconciliations, post journal entries and accruals, and maintain the general ledger
  • Reconcile balance-sheet accounts, resolve unusual AP/AR items, and maintain supporting schedules for all reconciliations
  • Own the close calendar; prepare closing entries, accruals, and balance-sheet reconciliations for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, with documentation to support audit and tax filings
  • Build management reporting packages and analyze budget-to-actual and month-over-month variances
  • Track key metrics, flag trends to the CFO, and ensure reporting aligns with accounting standards
  • Lead annual budgeting with the CFO and maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts
  • Compare actuals to plan monthly, build financial models, and run scenario analyses for key decisions
  • Maintain accounting policies and internal controls, tightening them as the company scales
  • Serve as main contact for auditors, tax advisors, and banks; coordinate year-end audit and support tax/regulatory filings
  • Meet regularly with the CFO on results, forecasts, and open issues; provide ad hoc analysis for key decisions
  • Support special projects and translate financial results into clear takeaways for non-financial stakeholders
  • Identify inefficient processes and implement scalable, automated solutions
  • Document new processes/controls and help build the accounting team as it grows

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA designation
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant ownership of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience in professional services or a comparable service-based business strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, close processes, and financial statement preparation
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial analysis
  • Experience working directly with a CFO, executive team, or business owner strongly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, internal controls, and reporting best practices
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong experience with accounting or ERP systems
  • A track record of improving accounting processes, systems, or controls in a growing organization

Pay: $120,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Extended health care
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • North Vancouver, BC V7L 2L3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Master's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

  • progressive accounting: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant certification (required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (required)
