Full job description

TENG Inc. is a fast growing, medium-size engineering consultant company providing engineering and project management services to multiple industry sectors. We have an immediate need for a Finance Controller, reporting into our HQ’s in Mississauga, ON.

The Finance Controller ensures the company’s financial records are accurate, reporting is timely, controls are effective, and management has reliable financial information to make decisions.

A hands-on Accountant responsible for accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, accounting operations, compliance, internal controls, and financial analysis to support senior management. This person should be both operational and strategic enough to support the company’s growth, improve processes, and reduce/manage our financial risk.

Qualifications

Our Controller will have:

  • CPA designation.
  • 5 - 8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to translate accounting principles into layman’s terms. Explain things so that a non-accountant can understand objective, logic, why we should do this, etc.
  • Some level of experience managing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, internal controls, and budgeting.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work closely with senior management.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Typical Deliverables

  • Monthly income statements and quarterly financial statements
  • Monthly management reports
  • Cash Positions (Weekly)
  • Budget and forecast updates
  • AR aging and collections report (Weekly)
  • AP aging and payment forecast (Weekly)
  • Payroll and benefits cost reporting (Biweekly)
  • Bank covenant or lender reporting, (Quarterly)
  • Year-end audit or review working papers
  • Tax and statutory remittances
  • Financial policies and procedures
  • KPI dashboards and variance analysis

Team Leadership

  • Manage accounting staff such as AP, AR, payroll, billing, project accounting, or general accountants.
  • Train, mentor and develop staff members.
  • Create a culture of accuracy, accountability, confidentiality, and service to the company.
