Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.
Join Scotiabank at a pivotal time of transformation, where Procurement is driving strategic value and innovation. As the Bank accelerates its adoption of AI and digital capabilities, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of sourcing within a global organization.
The Role
As a Senior Manager, Supplier Management, you will play a strategic role in how the Bank partners with, governs, and creates value from its supplier ecosystem. You will own supplier management activities for a high-impact category portfolio, helping shape commercial outcomes, strengthen supplier performance, manage third-party risk, and unlock enterprise-wide value across areas such as:
- Technology / IT
- Professional Services
- Real Estate & Facilities
- Corporate Services
- Financial Services / BPO
This is an opportunity for a procurement professional who wants to move beyond transactional vendor management and influence how a global financial institution sources, governs, and optimizes critical third-party relationships.
You’ll bring a commercial, risk-aware, and enterprise-wide lens to supplier relationships—partnering with business leaders, Strategic Sourcing, Legal, Risk, Finance, and Contract Owners to translate insights into action, improve supplier outcomes, strengthen governance, and identify opportunities for innovation, savings, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
Why procurement professionals will be excited by this opportunity: You will have visibility across major spend categories, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the mandate to influence supplier strategy from contract planning through performance management, renewal strategy, risk oversight, and value realization.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor to the business, bringing a procurement-first mindset that balances value, risk, service quality, supplier performance, and customer impact.
- Provide strategic category and supplier leadership across business segments, with accountability for key supplier relationships, contract outcomes, supplier performance, and lifecycle value.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Business Line leaders, Supplier Account Executives, Contract Owners, and sourcing partners to develop an enterprise view of supplier opportunities, risks, and priorities.
- Advance best-in-class supplier management practices, including governance routines, performance scorecards, issue management, renewal planning, and continuous improvement aligned to enterprise frameworks.
- Partner with Business Lines and Contract Owners to:
-
- Build a forward-looking pipeline of contract renewals, sourcing events, supplier reviews, and commercial opportunities
- Consolidate business requirements and identify opportunities for demand management, supplier consolidation, process improvement, and value creation
- Support Strategic Sourcing leads in shaping sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, renewal approaches, and market-informed recommendations
- Monitor supplier performance, contract compliance, service levels, and commercial commitments, proactively addressing risks and leading escalations with enterprise-wide impact.
- Lead and facilitate supplier governance meetings that drive clear decisions, measurable actions, transparent performance conversations, and accountability across stakeholders.
- Identify and deliver value creation opportunities, including savings, cost avoidance, productivity improvements, supplier innovation, and risk reduction in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing and Business Lines.
- Operate with a strong third-party risk mindset, ensuring supplier activities align with the Bank’s risk appetite and applicable Operational Risk, Regulatory Compliance, AML/ATF, conduct risk, and third-party risk management expectations.
- Champion a high-performance, inclusive team environment by:
-
- Attracting, developing, and retaining talent
- Communicating vision, values, and strategy clearly
- Driving succession and development planning
- Ensure effective business controls and governance, maintaining adherence to key frameworks such as:
-
- Operational Risk Management Framework
- Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework
- AML/ATF Global Handbook
- Guidelines for Business Conduct
- Collaborate closely across Global Procurement Services and Strategic Sourcing teams to deliver a seamless “OneGPS” experience that positions Procurement as a proactive, strategic partner to the business.
Do you have what it takes to succeed in this role? We’d love to connect if you are a procurement, supplier management, vendor management, or strategic sourcing professional who brings:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset)
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supplier management, vendor management, strategic sourcing, contract management, or third-party risk management, ideally within a complex or global environment
- Proven experience managing strategic suppliers or complex vendor relationships, including performance management, governance, issue escalation, and lifecycle planning
- Strong negotiation, change leadership, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and align stakeholders around practical commercial solutions
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior leaders
- The ability to translate complex supplier, technical, operational, risk, and financial information into clear recommendations and actionable strategies
- Solid understanding of financial services industry regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and their impact on third-party relationships (preferred)
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse, global teams
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and professionalism skills
- Familiarity with modern procurement, contract lifecycle management, supplier risk, workflow, analytics, and reporting tools
- A strong understanding of Bank business units and how they operate
- Curiosity about emerging procurement practices, supplier innovation, digital enablement, automation, analytics, and the evolving role of procurement in a regulated environment
What’s in it for you?
- A strategic procurement leadership role with exposure to senior stakeholders, complex categories, enterprise supplier relationships, and meaningful commercial impact
- The opportunity to help shape how Scotiabank manages supplier value, performance, risk, innovation, and governance across the enterprise
- A competitive rewards program including bonus, flexible vacation, personal and sick days, and comprehensive benefits that start on your first day.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship - We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and are embraced through bias-free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank. We embrace diversity and provide opportunities for all employees to learn, grow & participate through our various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that span across diverse gender identities, ethnicity, race, age, ability & veterans.
