Position Overview

Makers of Filipino style meaty and juicy hotdogs, FTG Foods Canada Ltd., is seeking a dedicated Food Safety Officer to join our team in Strathmore, AB. In this critical on-site role, you will ensure all operations comply with Canadian food safety regulations, maintain our robust food safety programs (including HACCP and Preventive Controls), and help uphold the highest standards of product quality and consumer safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments of production facilities, storage areas, and processing equipment.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), CFIA guidelines, and Alberta provincial requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and update food safety policies, procedures, and training programs for staff.
  • Investigate any food safety incidents, customer complaints, or potential recalls and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform environmental swabbing, product sampling, and coordinate lab testing as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, records, and reports for traceability and regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to address food safety issues proactively.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience in Food Safety or supervisory role in Food Manufacturing or Food Service industry.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, HACCP, or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and food safety software/tools.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
