Vancouver Island Forest & Marine Group (VIFM) is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Millwright / Maintenance Technician to support our remote marine camp operations throughout British Columbia. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and contributing to the success of critical marine and remote operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on generators, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, tools, and camp infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and facility-related issues to minimize operational downtime.
• Conduct routine inspections of camp facilities and equipment.
• Identify maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Manage tools, parts inventories, and maintenance supplies.
• Collaborate with camp, marine, catering, and logistics teams to ensure efficient camp operations.
• Support a safe work environment and comply with all company policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Required

• Millwright certification or related trade certification.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience maintaining and repairing generators, facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently in remote environments with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset.
• Strong computer and technical aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, digital record-keeping, and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Preferred

• Experience in marine, forestry, industrial, construction, or remote camp environments.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and welding systems.
• Occupational First Aid certification considered an asset.
• Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
