Tailor / Seamstress – Men's Clothing Alterations

Spier & Mackay is seeking an experienced Tailor / Seamstress to join our retail team. This is a full-time, in-store position available at our Heartland Town Centre location in Mississauga and Yorkville location in Toronto.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with men’s tailoring and alterations, particularly suits, trousers, jackets and shirts, and takes pride in delivering clean, precise work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of alterations on men’s clothing, including hemming, sleeve shortening/lengthening, waist adjustments, tapering, jacket alterations and other tailoring work
  • Conduct and assist with customer fittings to determine required alterations
  • Accurately pin and mark garments for alterations
  • Ensure alterations are completed to a high standard of fit and workmanship
  • Complete alterations within established customer deadlines
  • Work closely with retail staff to address fit concerns and determine appropriate alteration solutions
  • Identify and resolve alteration or garment construction issues when required
  • Maintain an organized and professional alteration workspace

Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience as a Tailor, Seamstress or Alterations Specialist
  • Strong experience working with men’s suits, jackets and trousers
  • Excellent sewing and garment construction knowledge
  • Ability to perform fittings and accurately assess garment fit
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to manage multiple alterations and meet deadlines
  • Experience in a menswear, tailoring or retail environment is an asset

Position: Full-time,Part-Time Permanent
Locations: Mississauga (Heartland Town Centre) & Toronto (Yorkville)

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
