Instructor – Fashion Design

Sundance College operates leading Western Canadian private colleges with multiple locations delivering diploma programs in both on-campus and online modalities in the business, health, hospitality, legal and technology fields.

The Opportunity

Sundance College is currently seeking to fill the full-time permanent role of an Instructor – Fashion Design.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Pattern Making Instructor to teach within our Fashion Design Diploma Program. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in garment construction and pattern development, and a passion for sharing knowledge with emerging designers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach foundational and advanced pattern making techniques, including drafting, draping, and fitting.
  • Instruct students in both manual and digital pattern development methods.
  • Guide students in applying pattern-making principles to real garment projects.
  • Provide feedback on design, construction, and technical accuracy.
  • Maintain a positive and professional learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A certificate, Diploma or post-secondary degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, or a related field and minimum two years of full-time work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter of the course, or
  • 10 years of full-time work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter of the course.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in fashion design or garment production
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, draping, sewing, grading, and technical drawing.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred (but not required).
  • Familiarity with the range of Abode Creative Suite products
  • Computer literate i.e. Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, supportive, engaging communication style
  • Reliable, punctual and organized
  • Good analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Desire to engage and contribute to a fun, fast-paced, supportive environment.
  • Preference for those with basic teaching or training experience
