What you'll do
- Serve as BC Hydro's Electrical Safety Program Coordinator, providing strategic leadership, support, and coordination of
safety technical issues and program responsibilities, engage stakeholders in program development and implementation,
communicate requirements and supporting documentation, and provide input into execution-level plans and procedures.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide effective engagement from frontline management to business
- Understand utility business processes and stakeholder needs and translate them into actionable program and project
- Direct and deliver complex projects within the program portfolio, including the Arc Flash Program, managing scope,
- Track, monitor, and report program and project progress.
- Develop and review project documentation including scope statements, schedules, budgets, project management plans,
- Serve as BC Hydro's technical leader in electrical safety regulation and compliance, providing organizational-level
- Manage key internal and external relationships, including regulators, executive leadership, senior management, unions,
- Develop, interpret, and maintain electrical safety standards, programs, and processes. Represent BC Hydro's interests in
requirements.
- Recommend solutions for regulatory matters and guide implementation across the organization.
- Apply extensive knowledge of utility operations, electrical safety practices, work methods, and equipment to resolve
- Maintain relationships with external safety organizations, regulators, utilities, and standards bodies. Represent BC Hydro
What you bring
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, Electrical Technical Diploma, or Trade Qualification. PMP
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in safety, operations, maintenance, planning,
- Demonstrated commitment to electrical utility safety and a strong personal safety record.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to achieve
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to respond effectively in complex or
- Strong understanding of utility business processes and project management methodologies, with the ability to tailor
- Sound knowledge of electrical utility systems and operations.
- Demonstrated success building strong working relationships with Safety, Operations management and field crews,
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage electrical safety strategies, programs, standards, and initiatives
- Extensive knowledge of electrical safety regulations, standards, policies, industry practices, and provincial and federal
- Ability to think strategically, analyze complex electrical safety issues, and develop practical solutions.
- Understanding of regulatory processes and advocacy mechanisms used to represent corporate interests.
- Knowledge of management systems, risk management principles, policy development, and governance frameworks.
