Safety Regns & Comp Specialist

Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00

What you'll do

• Serve as BC Hydro's Electrical Safety Program Coordinator, providing strategic leadership, support, and coordination of

Electrical Safety Programs to improve safety performance across the organization. Advise business groups on electrical
safety technical issues and program responsibilities, engage stakeholders in program development and implementation,
communicate requirements and supporting documentation, and provide input into execution-level plans and procedures.

• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide effective engagement from frontline management to business

group directors.

• Understand utility business processes and stakeholder needs and translate them into actionable program and project

plans.

• Direct and deliver complex projects within the program portfolio, including the Arc Flash Program, managing scope,

schedule, cost, resources, risks, issues, and quality.

• Track, monitor, and report program and project progress.
• Develop and review project documentation including scope statements, schedules, budgets, project management plans,

risk and issue logs, and status reports.

• Serve as BC Hydro's technical leader in electrical safety regulation and compliance, providing organizational-level

interpretation, guidance, and direction to support compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

• Manage key internal and external relationships, including regulators, executive leadership, senior management, unions,

employees, peer utilities, and industry committees and working groups.

• Develop, interpret, and maintain electrical safety standards, programs, and processes. Represent BC Hydro's interests in

regulatory and policy matters and assess the impact of regulatory and legislative changes on operations and compliance
requirements.

• Recommend solutions for regulatory matters and guide implementation across the organization.
• Apply extensive knowledge of utility operations, electrical safety practices, work methods, and equipment to resolve

complex technical and compliance issues.

• Maintain relationships with external safety organizations, regulators, utilities, and standards bodies. Represent BC Hydro

at industry conferences and on electrical safety committees as required.

What you bring

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, Electrical Technical Diploma, or Trade Qualification. PMP

certification is considered an asset.

• Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in safety, operations, maintenance, planning,

or project management within a unionized heavy industrial environment.

• Demonstrated commitment to electrical utility safety and a strong personal safety record.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to achieve

program and project objectives.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to respond effectively in complex or

critical situations.

• Strong understanding of utility business processes and project management methodologies, with the ability to tailor

approaches to operational needs.

• Sound knowledge of electrical utility systems and operations.
• Demonstrated success building strong working relationships with Safety, Operations management and field crews,

• The position can be headquartered at Edmonds, Vernon, Prince George, Terrace or Cranbrook subject to space

availability.

• Ability to travel within the province.

• A class 5 driver's license in good standing is a requirement for this role.
