Full job description

Land and Sky Grains is a progressive grain farm committed to empowering sustainable agriculture, located north of Grenfell, Sask. This opportunity is for a PERMANENT FULL-TIME or SEASONAL Primary Agriculture Production Operator with 5 years of experience. A Class 1A license is preferred, but not required.

Duties in this role will be varied, including operating farm equipment, hauling grain, and maintenance of both farm equipment and properties.

Essential Functions:

· Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment;

· Perform general farm duties;

· Plant, and tillage operations;

· Fertilize and spray crops;

· Harvest crops;

· Haul grain and/or assist in moving grain;

· Maintain equipment and shop, including daily preventative maintenance and winter repair and service;

· Use technology hardware/software for efficient task completion and accurate data collection;

· Maintain farm and landowner properties, including shop, bins, and yard;

· Safely and efficiently operate a variety of power hand tools and large farm equipment;

· Participate in inventory management and communicate needs with manager;

· Maintain a neat and safe work environment;

· Work within a team.

What You Bring:

· High School Diploma or GED;

· Ability to frequently lift and carry items up to 50 lbs;

· Willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions;

· Class 1A Drivers license;

· Acceptable driver’s abstract;

· 10+ years of experience in crop farming;

· GIS/GPS technology knowledge;

· Strong communication skills;

· Ability to work longer hours during critical seasons;

· Excellent interpersonal skills;

· Flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions.

Assets:

· Post-Secondary education;

· Experience maintaining and repairing Heavy Duty, Agriculture, or Truck and Transport equipment; apprenticeship opportunities available!

· Administrative experience;

· Leadership experience.

Compensation Package:

Starting wage for candidates who meet all essential qualifications is $30.00/hr, or relevant to experience. There will be periodic wage reviews and the ability to move within the scale. Career advancement / specialization opportunities will be available for high performing employees in the following areas: operations, trucking, mechanics/welding, technology and GIS.
