Full job description

AcuFast is looking for a keen individual who is thrilled to join us in creating the future of pork production. We empower our people by supporting and encouraging them to grow personally as well as professionally. We are currently looking for a permanent full-time Genetic Farm Manager for our Blackfoot Barn, Lloydminster. This role will evolve around providing leadership and support to their team by working alongside them to maintain, develop, implement, and educate team members on SOPS and protocols. The role will report to the Production Manager and work closely with other barn managers and operating teams to manage the day-to-day effective and efficient operations of the facility and equipment.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, but is not limited to:

  • Managing all Blackfoot team members and completing all administrative duties,
  • Coaching and developing team members on matters regarding job requirements, SOPs, biosecurity, and Health and Safety,
  • Ensuring everyone follows all SOPs and animal welfare requirements,
  • Analyzing barn production results and helping make decisions to adjust the team's daily activities to maximize production results,
  • Developing troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in your team,
  • Work side by side with your team members on all farm duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate would ideally possess the following experience and qualifications:

  • 3+ years of swine production experience,
  • Experience in the selection of breeding stock gilts,
  • Leadership experience,
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills with great attention to detail,
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Self-motivated and reliable,
  • Demonstrates a strong technical sense and understanding of swine production,
  • Able to manage priorities and solve problems,
  • Shares in AcuFast core values.
