Job Summary

Cheer Sport Sharks is seeking an experienced Advanced Tumbling Coach to join our Kitchener coaching team.

This is a specialized coaching position for someone with experience developing high-level tumbling athletes. We are specifically looking for a coach who is confident teaching, correcting and progressing athletes through skills including layouts, fulls and doubles.

Candidates may come from a gymnastics, power tumbling or competitive cheerleading background. Cheerleading experience is an asset, but is not required.

What You'll Coach

Our ideal candidate is comfortable coaching and developing:

  • Layouts and layout variations
  • Full twisting layouts
  • Double fulls
  • Standing and running tumbling combinations
  • Twisting technique and body positions
  • Advanced drills and progressions
  • Technique corrections and skill refinement
  • Strength, shapes and fundamentals required for advanced tumbling

The ability to appropriately teach, progress and spot advanced skills is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Coach advanced tumbling classes, clinics and private lessons
  • Work with competitive athletes on individual tumbling development
  • Assess athletes and create appropriate progressions based on their current ability
  • Identify and correct technical issues within advanced tumbling
  • Provide drills, conditioning and progressions to support athlete development
  • Work with competitive team coaches to improve tumbling technique and consistency
  • Create a safe, positive and challenging training environment
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, families and other coaches
  • Follow all Cheer Sport Sharks safety and athlete development standards

What We're Looking For

  • Previous coaching experience in gymnastics, power tumbling and/or competitive cheerleading
  • Demonstrated experience coaching layouts, fulls and doubles
  • Strong understanding of twisting technique and advanced tumbling mechanics
  • Ability to safely teach and progress high-level skills
  • Strong spotting ability
  • Ability to identify technical corrections and communicate them effectively
  • Experience working with youth and/or competitive athletes
  • Positive, energetic and athlete-focused coaching style
  • Reliable and professional
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Assets

  • Experience working with high-performance or elite athletes
  • Competitive gymnastics or power tumbling background
  • Competitive cheerleading experience
  • NCCP or equivalent coaching certification
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Vulnerable Sector Check

Hours may include a combination of tumbling classes, private lessons, clinics and competitive team training, with the potential for additional opportunities based on experience and availability.

What advanced tumbling skills are you currently comfortable teaching, progressing and spotting?

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience developing athletes through layouts, fulls and doubles.

Pay: $18.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 32.0 per week
