Full job description

Family Service Nova Scotia (FSNS) is seeking a Families Plus Clinical Interventionist who delivers intensive, family-centred services designed to strengthen family functioning and prevent children from entering care. Working directly in home and community settings, this position partners closely with families, community agencies, and internal teams to assess needs, implement tailored clinical interventions, and support sustainable positive outcomes. The successful candidate brings strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach, balancing direct service delivery with reflective practice, documentation, and ongoing coordination to ensure responsive, high-quality care

Program Overview

The Families Plus Clinical Interventionist position plays a vital role in the Families Plus program that is an intensive, clinical, home-based program designed to support families where there is a high likelihood of children coming into care.

This 36-week, Tier 3 intervention works with families with children aged 0–16, focusing on strengthening relationships, improving safety, and building long-term stability. The program is delivered using a dyadic approach and receives referrals through Child and Family Well-Being.

This full-time (35-hour) position works in person in Bridgewater. The annual compensation for this position is $90,000 – $100,000

What You’ll Do

1. Program Planning and Service Delivery

  • Manage and maintain an active caseload
  • Deliver intensive, home-based clinical interventions
  • Maintain regular communication with families
  • Collaborate with Child and Family Well-Being (OSD) and community partners
  • Participate in service delivery and case planning meetings
  • Monitor and adjust interventions based on family progress

2. Reflective Practice and Clinical Consultation

  • Participate in individual, group, and clinical supervision
  • Engage in ongoing reflective consultation with supervisors and peers
  • Apply reflective practices before, during, and after client interactions
  • Participate in annual performance and reflective reviews

3. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Complete monthly summary reports and case notes
  • Manage scheduling, appointments, and availability tracking
  • Utilize internal systems for documentation and reporting

4. Organizational Support

  • Contribute to a positive team and office environment
  • Support colleagues and broader program needs
  • Participate in internal learning and professional development opportunities

5. Operational Responsibilities

  • Monitor and request program materials as needed
  • Track and submit timesheets and expenses
  • Manage scheduling related to vacation and leave

What You Must Have

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field OR Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a minimum of five years of direct experience working with children and families
  • Candidates must be eligible for registration with the appropriate regulatory body

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings
