You will be paid while you train at the BHP Potash Academy and become a qualified Production/Maintenance Technician (surface & underground). These are permanent opportunities, and once successfully completing your studies, you will continue your employment with BHP in a permanent position based at our Jansen mine site with a choice of even time rosters to ensure the best work life balance. Traineeships are an 8-month training program based at the academy. Trainees study to become highly skilled and valued production technicians with BHP, completing a certificate in mining essentials and a certificate in applied mechanics. You will also get a blend of theory, practical and on-site learning while becoming familiar with maintaining/operating specific mining equipment. Once You Deploy to Site
Upon successful completion of the training program, you will commence mine-site based employment at our Jansen operations. Graduates will deploy to site as Production Technicians or Maintenance Technicians.
- Operation of heavy equipment
- Manual sounding/scaling in UG operations
- General maintenance tasks (repair/replace monorail systems, conveyor rollers, general preventative maintenance tasks)
- Equipment inspections
- Mucking with a scoop (LHD)
- Installing roof bolting systems
- Safety Hazard Reporting
