Job Overview

Park Plaza Medical is seeking a motivated, organized, and patient-focused Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting physicians and ensuring the efficient daily operation of our busy family medicine clinic. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Register patients and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) while ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Prepare patient charts and documentation for physician appointments.
  • Process referrals, requisitions, and other medical documentation.
  • Coordinate communication between physicians, patients, pharmacies, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including filing, scanning, faxing, and data entry.
  • Monitor and replenish office and medical supplies.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Medical Office Assistant or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Office Assistant program is considered an asset.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) is required.
  • Experience with systems such as Accuro, Epic, Med Access, Health Quest or similar EMRs is an asset.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent patient service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Schedule

  • Monday to Saturday
