Assistant Professor Position # 34782
The Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing on April 1, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Start-up funds will be provided, and Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association collective agreement.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to establish an innovative research and training program that is capable of engaging in broad collaborations with colleagues from basic science, clinical departments, and members of CHRIM. The candidate is expected to support the department's teaching activities in physiology and pathophysiology including undergraduate, post-baccalaureate diploma, and graduate teaching. The candidate is expected to attract excellent local, national and international trainees and mentor students at all levels, with opportunities to contribute to clinical training and mentorship. The successful candidate should have an aptitude for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in endocrine physiology and pathophysiology. The successful candidate is expected to participate in service activities for department or faculty committees as assigned.Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned doctorate or equivalent degree in physiology or a related field in biomedical sciences. Three years of postdoctoral research experience in endocrine and metabolic physiology using multi-disciplinary cross-cutting techniques, and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement cutting edge experimental approaches is preferred. A productive publication history in high quality, peer-reviewed journals and the potential to secure competitive, extramural research funding are expected.Demonstrated evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment would be considered an added strength. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research excellence in the interactions between endocrine and metabolic systems and gastrointestinal and renal systems.
The RFHS and the Department offer excellent opportunities to forge multi- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations with partner institutes. The successful applicant will have access to core Faculty resources including central animal core and transgenic facilities, molecular imaging, histomorphology and ultrastructural imaging, proteomics & systems biology, flow cytometry, lentiviral vector production, live-cell imaging, and statistical genomics and bioinformatics.
