Summary

We are seeking energetic and detail-oriented Joist Welders to join our skilled manufacturing and construction teams. In this role, you will be responsible for welding steel joists with precision, ensuring structural integrity and safety standards are met. Your expertise will contribute directly to the successful completion of large-scale steel projects, from initial fabrication to final assembly.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform welding on steel joists using MIG and TIG welding techniques to meet project specifications.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble components.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and press brake machines for cutting, shaping, and forming steel parts.
  • Conduct rigging and mechanical setup for welding operations, ensuring proper positioning of materials.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery safely to transport materials around the shop or jobsite.
  • Measure components with calipers and other precision tools to ensure accurate fit-up and alignment.
  • Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), especially during welding and cutting tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in welding steel structures, particularly joists or similar components.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes with the ability to produce high-quality welds.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings essential for precise fabrication.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, machining, ductwork installation, and assembly processes.
  • Construction or manufacturing experience working with structural steel or related materials preferred.
  • Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, plasma cutters, press brake machines, hand tools, power tools, and calipers confidently.
  • Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks.

Location, Shift, Hours of Work & Working Conditions

  • Location: Welland, ON
  • We are actively hiring for day, afternoon and weekend shifts
  • May be required to work additional hours based on plant needs
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
  • Requires standing, lifting, and walking throughout the shift.
