Full job description

Overview

We're looking for an experienced landscaper to join our small construction crew in Vancouver.

The work includes planting trees, shrubs and perennials, soil preparation, grading, mulching, sod installation, pathways, boulder placement, timber features and general landscape construction.

We're looking for someone with hands-on landscape installation experience who understands proper planting techniques and can work independently. You should be comfortable using hand and power tools and working outdoors in different weather conditions.

Experience with excavators, skid steers or other construction equipment is an asset but not required.

This is a hands-on position working alongside experienced carpenters and playground builders. We have a variety of work to complete and are looking for someone capable, reliable and comfortable taking initiative.

Schedule: 5–6 days per week, approximately 8–10 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Planting trees, shrubs, perennials and other landscaping
  • Preparing planting beds, installing growing medium, mulch and sod
  • Grading and preparing areas for pathways and playground surfacing
  • Moving and placing soil, gravel and landscape materials
  • Assisting with boulder and log installations
  • Assisting with timber construction and basic carpentry
  • Operating excavators and other equipment where qualified
  • General site organization, material handling and cleanup

Skills

  • Previous hands-on landscape installation experience
  • Knowledge of proper planting techniques, soil preparation and grading
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Able to read landscape plans or follow planting layouts
  • Equipment operating experience is an asset
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small crew

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 55.0 per week
