We are Hiring – Chief Mining Engineer
Queensway Project – Gander, NL

We are seeking an experienced Chief Mining Engineer to oversee engineering activities for the continued development and safe execution of our Queensway Project near Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as associated commitments across all New Found Gold sites. This is a unique opportunity to lead the engineering team and play a pivotal role in bringing the province’s next gold mine into production.

Your Role in the Expedition:

As Chief Mining Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for mine engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain long-term mine plans and ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Oversee design and implementation of open pit layouts, drill and blast plans, and waste management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Manage and mentor the engineering team, fostering collaboration with Geology and Mine Operations.
  • Monitor performance metrics and deliver monthly and quarterly reports to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes.
  • Other related duties as required.

What you bring to the Field:

  • B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in open pit mining, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • P.Eng. designation (or eligibility for registration with PEGNL).
  • Proven ability to develop safe, cost-effective, and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, MS Office).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed.
