Wire Construction

Wire Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Earthworks Foreman to lead field crews on a variety of commercial and residential projects across the Calgary region. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role responsible for managing site operations, ensuring safety and quality standards, coordinating daily activities, and working closely with clients and project teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in earthworks, proven crew management skills, and the ability to deliver results in fast-paced construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

This foreman will be expected to perform on a diverse range of construction projects with the following expectations:

  • Manage crews from 2 to 10 people
  • ensure safety and quality on the job site. Being a leader for safety.
  • Leading an earthworks crew of operators, laborers, and subcontractors on site.
  • Daily hazard assessments.
  • Working closely with the client's site representative.
  • Coordinating the different earthwork scopes per project.
  • Working closely with the project team. For example, scheduling, job costing, leading crew safety meetings, etc.
  • Scheduling trucks, gravel, and material deliveries daily.
  • Reading drawings and survey layout.
  • Time and quantity tracking.
  • Set up and use GPS machine control with dozers and graders. With the assistance of your project team.
  • Experience in commercial and residential excavating. Bulk excavation for parkades, detailed excavation, slab on grade, backfill, etc.
  • Experience in site development and cut/fill with excavators, dozers, and rock trucks.
  • Knowledge of safety and the importance of creating a safe working team.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills for effective team management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems efficiently.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of construction experience (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership and crew management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems efficiently
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures
  • Experience with safe excavation and trenching practices
