We are excited to share this opportunity for a Marketing Coordinator to join our team. This flexible role is ideal for someone who is interested in growing our Winnipeg climbing community and sharing the joys of climbing with as many people as possible. The ideal Coordinator enjoys detail oriented planning, generating social media, digital and print marketing content, connecting with external partners, engaging with new people, and building relationships.

As a community-focused Marketing Coordinator, this role will also include some front desk shifts. We believe that being immersed in the gym and connecting with our members is key to understanding and authentically representing our community. By spending time at the front desk, you’ll get to know our staff and customers, experience our culture firsthand, and develop a genuine feel for what makes our climbing community special, ultimately making you a stronger, more effective marketer!

This role will be directly reporting to the Hive Facility General Manager, with departmental direction from the Marketing and Communication Manager.

Anticipated Schedule: This is an hourly position with an expected target of 32-40h/week with the expectation to be at the gym to cover up to two Customer Service shifts per week, and require availability to work during evenings and weekends as per the event schedule.

Wage: Hourly wage starting at $19.25 to $21.25, depending on experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Communications & Promotions

  • Assist in the organizing of promotional events and their digital campaigns; attend them to facilitate their success.
  • Create content and manage distribution on the company’s website, social media accounts, newsletter and posters in line with the Brand Guide.
  • Manage and monitor email marketing campaigns & automations to support the customer journey from first visit to member.
  • Maintain and regularly review location specific content on the website, with a primary focus on events and community, alerts and promotions.
  • Analyze efficacy of digital content (social & email) and share insights with key leaders; action findings to improve reach and engagement using available tools (i.e. website, Meta, Mailchimp analytics)
  • Support market research initiatives and analyze consumer rating reports/ questionnaires in collaboration with Marketing Manager & GM.
  • Support GM in keeping in-gym promotional materials current, and distributing external promotional materials around Winnipeg as needed.
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and successful coordination of the department’s activities.
  • Communicate consistently, clearly and professionally with key stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure good cross-team understanding of upcoming events and related needs; includes Hive staff, management, clients, and external partners.
  • Work with the Hive team to ensure guidelines of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act are met – in particular, this is relevant to our surveys, marketing contacts, waivers & media releases.

Events

  • Planning and delivery of events and activations, including lead up coordination, communications and on site support, internal and external
  • Actively lead & participate in event debrief process, and support follow up with partners, sponsors, and fundraising beneficiaries as appropriate

Customer Service

  • Provide a friendly welcome to each person who walks through the door, wish them well when they depart and encourage return where appropriate (see you soon!)
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors including direct service, a clean environment, and attention to risk management
  • Ask relevant questions to help connect our customers with the products and services we offer, tailored to their wants, needs, and experience level
  • Get to know our customers; build relationships with regulars

Use time on CS/Desk to inform the marketing and events components of your role, while always staying focused on the customer(s) in front of you as first priority

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Experience with marketing, promotions, and event planning
  • Excellent time management, able to adhere to and support deadlines
  • Able to calmly prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Well-organized (digitally and in physical space)
  • Operate with a customer-oriented and people-first approach
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), data analysis methods, marketing software and creative applications (CRM email+ tools, Google Analytics, Canva etc.) and knowledge of Webflow or similar website management platforms
  • High School diploma; Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business, Recreation Management or relevant field is a strong advantage
