Full job description

Position: CLINICAL ASSISTANT

Company: Etobicoke Medical Centre Family Health Organization

Status: Part-Time; 3 days per week: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday + 2 weekend shifts per month on a rotational basis

Starting Salary: $20.00/hour

Must be available to work weekdays, including evenings as well as weekends on a rotational basis.

A typical shift can be scheduled anytime between the hours of 8:30am- 8:00pm weekdays and Saturdays 9:00am-3:00pm and Sundays/Holidays 9:00am- 12:00pm.

All shifts are dependent upon physicians’ scheduled hours; flexibility to work outside of these core hours is required.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Escort patient to examination room, determine nature of visit and document into EMR (electronic medical record)

 Take vitals based on nature of visit

 Communicate with patients via phone/email to relay physician information/instructions

 Ensure appropriate medical supplies/equipment are available/ready for the clinical exam

 Stock/re-stock examination rooms as required

 Prepare/clean rooms as required

 Complete/process paperwork and invoices as requested by physician

 Handle/transport specimens as per protocol

 Ensure appropriate handling/storage of government provided vaccines according to Toronto Public Health guidelines

 Administer injections-certification required

 Handle liquid nitrogen as per guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

 Graduate of an IM Injection Certificate Program

 1-2 years relevant experience in a family practice environment

 Emergency first aid & CPR required

 Knowledge of an EMR (electronic medical record); Telus Health PS Suite

 Excellent customer service

 Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills

 Ability to work independently and on a team

 Communicate verbally and in writing (electronic messaging) with physicians and team members

 Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

 Exceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skills

 Strong touch typing skill (50 wpm)

VACCINATION:

As a condition of employment, proof of full vaccination is required prior to start, including Covid-19 vaccination.
