Full job description

Zuccarini Importing is Canada's first espresso machine importer with over 70 years of industry experience. We are a small, family-run business that has been specializing in home & commercial espresso equipment sales, service, and barista training since 1954. We believe that high-quality espresso is for everyone, and we take pride in matching our customers with the equipment and knowledge to brew excellent coffee, both at home and at work.

As Zuccarini’s Sales & Training Specialist, you’re a seasoned coffee expert with a deep understanding of what makes for great espresso. Paired with a working technical knowledge of how espresso equipment operates (which we'll teach you!), your passion for coffee allows you to match each customer with the gear best suited to their needs, skill level, and budget. You enjoy connecting with people at all levels and are equally comfortable training bonafide baristas and total beginners on how to brew excellent coffee. Across our full home and commercial product range, you’ll quickly become the go-to expert our customers rely on for advice, training, and ongoing support.

You will act as the primary point of contact for both home and commercial customers, and will ensure that they are provided with the information, training, tools, and service necessary to yield the best results from their equipment, and stay well-caffeinated for years to come.

You will also work closely with the Marketing team to help ideate, create, and fact-check informative content for our online audience of coffee-lovers, acting as our in-house coffee expert and a brand ambassador both online via social media, and in-person in our showroom and at key industry tradeshows & events.

Sales & Service Management:

  • Consult with home and commercial customers to assess their needs, demonstrate equipment, and recommend solutions that fit their skill level, workflow, and budget - including preparing quotes and proposals for commercial accounts
  • Serve as the primary point of contact post-sale, coordinating installations, follow-ups, and service requests with our Service team
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting for common equipment issues and escalate to the Service team as needed
  • Build and maintain expert-level knowledge of our full product range - including home and commercial espresso machines, grinders and accessories - and keep all training and technical materials current
  • Develop and maintain foundational sales and training materials, including product brochures, training manuals, preventative maintenance plans, presentation decks, troubleshooting/how to instructions, and installation specifications
  • Leverage CRM tools and functionalities to maximize efficiency and quality of the sales and after-sales support process
  • Participate in regular sales meetings to assess performance of ongoing sales efforts, share and establish best practices, and strategize ways to optimize the sales process and customer experience
  • Manage incoming sales inquiries via email, phone and in-person; redirect issues to appropriate team members as needed
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales records across all platforms
  • Liaise with global suppliers to keep product information and pricing current
  • Assist with packing and coordinating shipments of equipment and/or orders, as needed
  • Represent Zuccarini at industry trade shows and consumer events, including booth setup and tear down
  • Attend bi-weekly team meetings and provide input, where needed

Barista Training:

  • Deliver hands-on barista training in our Toronto showroom for home customers, with follow-up sessions as needed; provide in-home training for purchasers of select high-end domestic equipment
  • Travel to commercial customer locations (cafés, restaurants, hotels and offices) across the GTA to deliver in-depth barista training for staff - covering machine use and maintenance, as well as espresso extraction, dial-in, milk technique, workflow, etc.
  • Flexibility to work one Saturday a month to lead barista workshops (approximately 4 hour commitment)
  • Lead training workshops at tradeshows, events, etc.
  • Develop new workshops /training programs and resources as needed

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a high school/university/college diploma
  • Has a valid driver’s license (regular travel across the GTA required)
  • *Required* Minimum 3 years of hands-on coffee industry experience (barista, head barista, coffee specialist or café manager), with strong working knowledge of espresso extraction, milk technique and grinder calibration
  • Has exceptional interpersonal, and verbal & written communication skills
  • Is organized, solutions-driven, and a self-starter
  • Has superior time management skills and consistently meets deadlines
  • Is comfortable in front of a camera and presenting to small groups
  • Enjoys sharing coffee knowledge and training people with varying skillsets to brew exceptional coffee
  • Enjoys working independently and within a tight-knit team
  • Is proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Sales experience, ideally in a consultative or B2B setting, is an asset
  • Experience training others on espresso equipment operation and maintenance is an asset
  • Experience with Zoho or other CRM software is an asset
  • Coffee certifications or accreditations (SCA, Barista Guild, etc.) and hands-on familiarity with commercial espresso equipment brands (i.e. Victoria Arduino, Elektra, Nuova Simonelli, etc.) is an asset
